If you're a single woman who just discovered that you're pregnant, your first reaction is often to think about the ramifications of being pregnant without an involved father. He may be trying to tell you how to handle your pregnancy, or he may not be communicating with you at all, which can leave you unsure about taking on the responsibility of having a child. While this can seem overwhelming, you are not alone in your feelings; we can help you better cope with the changes of an unplanned pregnancy.
You may feel scared, confused, and alone when it comes to facing the challenges of being a single mother. You may feel like everyone has an opinion about how you should deal with your pregnancy, but nobody seems to care enough to ask what you are going through. This is because your situation is extremely difficult to face - especially when you don't have a partner to rely on.
You may also have concerns about the financial aspects of raising a baby, paying rent, buying food, covering doctor's visits, and purchasing baby supplies. These worries are very real. This is why we exist.
We provide free pregnancy support services to women in Wake and Johnston County. The services we provide are completely free of charge and confidential. You will not be asked for your insurance information, and there are no hidden fees.
You can start by taking a free pregnancy test. If your test is positive, we can discuss your next steps which may include a free ultrasound to help you find out exactly how far along you are and verify viability. This will help define options for the pregnancy, which is why taking this first step is so important.
Sharing your thoughts and concerns with one of our client advocate, who listens and genuinely cares, may be the very help you need.
Many single mothers feel pressure to figure everything out right away. That pressure is not necessary. While a pregnancy verification is an important first step, most other decisions don't have to be made immediately. Your client advocate will help you work through the noise surrounding the pregnancy such as family pressure, financial stress, and worrying about what you are going to do.
In addition to your initial appointment, we will support you through your pregnancy and through your first year after delivery. We offer parenting classes to help prepare you for labor and delivery, and we have a program where you can earn items you'll need for your baby, such as cribs, car seats, diapers, and clothes. You will not be alone going through this.
If you're not sure how to handle his involvement, you are not alone. We have a fatherhood program for men who want to take care of their children, but don't know how to get started. We also have a lot of experience in helping women when the father is trying to pressure them into doing something. In the end, the decision is ultimately up to you.
We have two locations (one in Clayton and one in Knightdale) so that you have access to support and resources. No matter where you live (Raleigh, Smithfield, or anywhere in between), there is a judgment-free place near you where you can explore your options without pressure.
The most common question we receive is, "What do I do first?" The answer is simple - contact us and schedule a free Intake. You will receive answers, support, and a better understanding of what is going on during this visit. We will begin discussing your next steps after your appointment.
